Linking two of Europe’s most enchanting and beautiful cities, the Venice Simplon-Orient Express route from Venice to Budapest is an overland odyssey to die for. Departing from Italy’s famous town of canals, an iconic jewel in the Adriatic crown, you will pass through southern Europe’s most stunning countryside before arriving in Budapest to discover the many wonders of Hungary’s capital- a place of unbelievable old world opulence, with a pervading air of faded grandeur around every corner.
Day 1
Arrive at Venice Santa Lucia station to board the Venice Simplon-Orient Express, with a steward ready and waiting to show you to your cabin. After early-evening departure from the City of Canals, a delicious four course meal will be served in one of the beautifully restored and magnificently detailed Restaurant Cars. After your meal, either retire to your cabin, which has now been transformed into a cosy bedroom, or head to the Bar Car to indulge in elegant drinks with your fellow passengers.
Day 2
Wake to find breakfast served in your cabin by the steward, at a time to suit you. Spend the rest of the morning relaxing in your cabin as central Europe passes by out of the window. Next, enjoy a sumptuous three-course lunch in the Restaurant Car before pulling into Budapest mid-afternoon, arriving in plenty of time to begin exploring the most magnificent city on the Danube.
