Itinerary

Day One
Arrive at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai, mid-afternoon for welcome and registration. Proceed to the Chatrapatie Shivaji Terminus Railway Station to board the fabulous Maharajas Express. Departing late afternoon for Ajanta, once you have settled in dinner will be served on board.

Day Two
Wake early for breakfast as the train approaches its first destination. An excursion to Ajanta Caves is first on the agenda, followed by lunch back on board the Maharajas Express mid-afternoon prior to departure for Udaipur. Dinner will be served in the late evening as the journey continues.

Day Three
Enjoy a more leisurely start to the day with a mid-morning breakfast and arrival into the gleaming city of Udaipur. From the station, take a boat ride on Lake Pichola, followed by a visit to City Palace and the famed Crystal Gallery.
Lunch will then be served at Satkar Hall in Fateh Prakash Palace, before you return to the splendour of the Express late afternoon. Alternatively, choose to utilise the spa facilities at a deluxe hotel, or head out on a private shopping tour. Dinner will commence back on board in the early night-time, with departure for Jodhpur shortly thereafter.

Day Four
Following a delicious breakfast on board take an option tour to Bishnoi Village after arrival in Jodhpur. Lunch is served back on board the Maharajas Express, followed by your choice of excursion. Either take a trip to the Mehrangarth Fort and walking tour around the Clock Tower Marker, or choose optional activities such as spa treatments in a five star hotel, sightseeing at Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum and Jaswent Thada, or go on a private shopping tour.

Day Five
As the stunning Indian countryside passes you by indulge in another sumptuous breakfast on board. A mid-morning arrival into Bikaner sees you given the option of either relaxing on board, taking a trip to the Lalgarh Museum, or Deshnok Rat Temple.

Lunch is served back on board, before a visit to the imposing Junagarth Fort. As evening falls, head to the Sand Dunes for Sundowners, calling at Gajner Palace for tea en route. Heading to the Maharajas Express in the early night-time, the train will depart for Jaipur shortly after you are back on board.

Day Six
Breakfast on board is followed by arrival into Jaipur and a trip to the Amber Fort mid-morning. From there, you will have the chance to watch an exhibition Elephant Polo Match, followed by lunch at City Palace. Returning to the comfort of the train you may also choose to participate in other activities, including a wonderful spa treatment at a five star hotel, private shopping tour, golfing at Rambagh Golf Club, or visit to City Palace and Observatory (Jantar Mantar).

Finally, head back to the Maharajas Express for dinner on board and departure for Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambore).

Day Seven
Begin your final full day with an exciting game drive through the Ranthambore National Park. Heading back to the train mid-morning, enjoy a relaxed brunch on board, before the Express heads off towards Fatehpur Sikri. Arriving mid-afternoon, this is your opportunity to take in the eerie surrounds of the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, before heading back to the carriages for one final dinner on board, and an Indian Evening of entertainment.

Day Eight
Arriving into Agra early-morning, from the station you will be taken to the Taj Mahal. One of the seven wonders of the world, a champagne breakfast at Taj Khema follows, before the Express departs late-morning towards Dehli. Lunch is then served on board as the Indian capital approaches, pulling into the city mid-afternoon, leaving you free to explore and experience the hustle and bustle of this world-famous city.
