Itinerary

Day One and Two
Touchdown in Lima, the capital of Peru, where a representative will meet you for the transfer from airport to Belmond Miraflores Park- your home from home whilst in the city. After settling in, hit the streets of this vibrant town and explore the culture, colours and flavours on offer. From world-class museums and art galleries, to expansive markets offering everything from exotic foods to textiles, the innumerable gems are on your doorstep. Alternatively, simply relax by the hotel’s rooftop pool, taking a dip whilst taking in one of the best views in town.

Wake the following day and prepare for a special tour of Lima, during which you will visit the historic centre, Cathedral, Government Palace, and several other sites. After lunch get ready for the Barranco District Shopping Tour, wherein you will flit between stylish boutiques and traditional shops selling artisan crafts and items created by local artists.

Day Three and Four
Take the flight from Lima to Cusco, one of South America’s most fascinating cities. Once back on the ground, enjoy a one-and-a-half-hour scenic drive through stunning landscapes to the Sacred Valley of the Incas a truly magical place that deserves its place in global history. En route, take a pitstop at Pisac, a small town renowned for its colourful market, before continuing on to the Belmond Hotel Rio Sagrado.

Whilst staying in the Sacred Valley you will have the opportunity to visit Ollantaytambo, which claims to be among the oldest continually inhabited settlements in all the Americas, along with Chinchero, a small Andean village situated on high amid the windswept plains this region is known for. Hacienda Huayoccari, and its superb collection of colonial and folk art, is also within easy reach, meanwhile several activities are on offer at the hotel itself including hiking, ATV driving, mountain biking and horseback riding.

Day Five and Six
Climb aboard the iconic Vistadome train for the journey to Machu Picchu, the Inca fortification located in the Andes that ranks as one of the wonders of the world. Once at the citadel, a guided tour with reveal the mysteries and secrets of this sacred site, after which you are free to retire to your room at the opulent Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, next to the citadel itself.

While at Machu Picchu you will also have the option of two hikes either to Inti Punku or Huayna Picchu, the highest mountain in the site. Alternatively, take some time to explore the area alone, before returning to Cusco on the luxurious Belmond Hiram Bingham.

Day Seven
Staying at the Belmond Hotel Monasterio, you begin the day with a visit to Cusco’s central market, where Andean culture and daily life will be at your fingertips. Next, head to the Cathedral, Koricancha complex, and the fortress of Sacsayhuaman.

Day Eight
Take the flight back to Lima, where a Belmond representative will be on hand to assist with your transfer for your final journey across the continent, Atlantic Ocean, an onward to the UK.
