Of all the world’s continents, South America continues to entice visitors like no other. A vast landmass comprising many unique destinations, if there’s a country within this global region that features on everyone’s to-do-list, then surely it’s Peru. An ancient place, boasting several millennia of culture that runs from the Incas through to the modern world, it’s home to ancient sites such as Machu Picchu, along with stunning countryside, and fascinating cities such as Lima and Cusco. So, to experience them all, complete with the luxury associated with a Belmond odyssey, is understandably an unforgettable experience.

Day One
Arrive in Lima, Peru’s fascinating capital, where a representative of Belmond will be on hand to escort you from the airport to your hotel, the Belmond Miraflores Park. After check-in, hit the streets of this enchanting city to experience its fantastic museums, incredible galleries, exquisite dining and varied markets, or simply relax at the rooftop pool and enjoy the best views in town.

Day Two, Three and Four
Fly from Lima to Cusco, one of South America’s most charming cities. Once on the ground, a one-and-a-half hour scenic drive will see you traverse the stunning landscapes of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Next, settle into your home from home, the Belmond Hotel Rio Sagrado, before it’s time for the next adventure. A half-day ATV (all-terrain vehicle) will take you deep into the wilderness, an experience like no other.

While based in the area, you will also have the opportunity to go river rafting down the mighty Urubamba, ride a Peruvian Paso the world’s smoothest riding horse and explore the fascinating culture of this region in depth. See Chinchero, a traditional Andean village of weavers, visit the town of Maras, from which you can hike to the ruins of the Incan ‘agricultural laboratory’ at Moray. It’s all here, and waiting for you.

Day Five and Six
Climb aboard the majestic Vistadome train for the 104KM journey to Machu Picchu, one of the wonders of the world. Hike the Inca Trail whilst savouring some of the finest views on the planet, before checking into the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, located right next to the citadel itself.

Wake early the next morning for another memory money (almost) can’t buy- a sunrise walk through Machu Picchu, one of South America’s most sacred sites, before boarding the bus to Aguas Calientes station in the afternoon for a transfer back to the Vistadome train, which will take you on to Cusco for your stay in the Belmond Hotel Monasterio.

Day Seven
Marvel in the sights of Cusco with a half-day tour of the city. This will include a visit to the Cathedral, the Koricancha complex, and Sacsayhuaman’s impressive fortification. Next you will head to the Awana Kancha centre, where llamas, alpacas, guanacos and vicunas spend their day lazing in the field.

Day Eight
Leave Cusco behind as you fly back to Lima, arriving at the airport to find a representative on hand to escort you to the Belmond Miraflores Park Hotel, enjoying a tour of Lima en route. An evening transfer will be scheduled to take you to the airport for your transcontinental flight to the UK.
