Travelling in style aboard a train that defines luxury and opulence, along the route you will have the opportunity to see some of Africa’s most majestic landscapes, rare animals and wildlife, and spend time soaking up the atmosphere that comes with such a grand land voyage.

Itinerary

Day One
Arrive in Durban, where a transfer will be waiting to take you to the Fairmont Zimbali Resort for a two-night B&B stay.

Day Two
Spend today at your own pace, doing what you chose to do, with plenty of activities at the resort to occupy your time, or simply sit back, relax, and relish in the views. Again, accommodation is on a B&B basis.

Day Three
A mid-morning departure will take you from the hotel to Durban Station, where you will board the luxurious train, departing shortly thereafter. Lunch is served on board as the carriages make their way through incredible scenery, finally arriving at the Ardmore Ceramic Gallery mid-afternoon. Later, climb back aboard for the onwards journey, with dinner and overnight on board.

Day Four
Wake early for breakfast, and then choose from two excursions. Either a game drive through the stunning Spionkop Reserve, where a host of magnificent animals roam free, or alternatively take a tour of the local battlefields in the area, which boast an incredible history. Later in the afternoon, there will be opportunity to embark on a game drive in the Nambiti Game Reserve.

Day Five
After spending the morning at your own leisure on board the train you will pull into the splendidly appointed Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria, before transferring to a hotel for an overnight stay on a B&B basis.

Day Six
Following breakfast and transfer back to the train, departure from the station will commence mid-morning. Today’s route will take you through the Magaliesberg Range, to Mafikeng, where border formalities will commence. Lunch, tea and dinner will all be served along the way at various times in the day.

Day Seven
A day at leisure on board to spend how you see fit. The train will pass through beautiful Botswana, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn as it heads towards the Zimbabwean border at Plumtree, offering a series of stunning vistas as it follows the railway line.

Day Eight
Another day at leisure, with the train following a direct route towards Hwange National Park, arriving mid-afternoon for a game drive at The Hide.

Day Nine
Wake to another wonderful breakfast, followed by a mid-morning arrival at one of the world’s most breathtaking locations – Victoria Falls. Walk across to the Victoria Falls Hotel, where you will spend two nights staying on a B&B basis, with tours and activities to be arranged on request.

Day Ten
Today Victoria Falls are your oyster. Available activities include a tour of the Falls, a helicopter ride over the top, golf, elephant safaris, walks with lions and whitewater rafting. After an action packed day, head back to the hotel for your final night in the wilderness.

Day Eleven
Following breakfast, transfers will take you to either Victoria Falls or Livingstone Airport for your flight home, or alternatively extend your stay by combining this itinerary with your own additional arrangements.
