Itinerary

Day One
Depart Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria mid-morning, with lunch served as you catch glimpse of the towering Drakensberg Mountains. As the afternoon progresses, feel the altitude difference whilst climbing some 2416m (7040ft) up Majuba Hill, before dinner is served en route to Elandslaagte that evening, your first overnight stop.

Day Two
An early wake up call will be followed by a selection of teas, coffees, and pastries in the dining car, before you embark on the experience of a lifetime- a game drive through the Nambiti Private Game Reserve. Heading back to the train for brunch late-morning, soon you’ll be on your way to Estcourt, disembarking early afternoon for a 40-minute drive to Spionkop Lodge. Here two excursions are offered, an escorted tour of the historic battlegrounds, or a game drive through the eponymous Game Reserve.

Day Three
Breakfast will be served as the train begins its descent down the escarpment on the way to Lions River Station. By mid-morning you will be admiring the handiworks in the world famous Ardmore Ceramics Gallery, with an equestrian display and tea rounding off the trip. Midday departure takes you towards Durban, arriving mid-afternoon, with sights like the jaw-dropping Valley of a Thousand Hills en route.
